Tony Jurado
Foster City, Ca


Tony Jurado was born in San Francisco, raised in Millbrae, and lives in Foster City. A true Bay Area native, he has been married to his high school sweetheart, Paula, for 25 years and has 2 sons and 1 daughter-- Alex (20), Matt (18), and Briana (16). Now that he is done coaching the kids’ baseball and softball teams, he has been able to get involved in a long time passion, drag racing. He is the owner of Capitol Glass Company, a proud sponsor of PSDCA. When he’s not working or racing, Tony enjoys golf, driving his hot rods, riding dirt bikes and Harleys, or watching the San Francisco Giants with his family. Tony recently sold his 1966 Chevelle and purchased a 1969 Wally Stroupe Camaro. This car has a 765 cubic inch Sonny’s engine backed by a power glide. His crew chief is Boyd Ferry who will also run a Capitol Glass Racing 1970 Camaro in the 7.60 class. The rest of the crew is made up of long time friends who share the drag racing passion. Mark Gomez 
Paso Robles, Ca
                      
Mark Gomez is the owner of this beautiful 1994 Chevy Beretta that features a 635ci big chief Ralph Smith Racing Engine out of Denver, Co.   They estimated the power at 1300HP w/o nitrous.   It should make at least 400+hp on the juice and with Ballance Racing consulting on the tune ups the blown cars better look out. The transmission is a  B&J air shifted 3 speed auto that is sure to get the Beretta moving off the line.  Gomez, a long time west coast racer will be stepping into the new  6.90 Slammers class looking to make some career runs.   The GFR (Gomez Family Racing) entry will be run without any sponsors until the team can aquire a full time sponsorship. 




                                            
Rick Logsdon
Bakersfield, Ca

At  just 50yrs old Rick is a big hitter in the 7.60 Slammers class.  He sports the largest engine in Pro Slammers Door Car Association at 812ci.  This 1955 Chevy Bel Air is a blue monster that you don't want to play with.  Rick's first full season of racing was in 2007 and by 2008 he already was the B-Gas champion in ANRA and in the WCHRA.   He has always competed in the west coast most prestigious events, the March Meet and  the Hot Rod Reunion where he scored a win in A-Gas in 2010 at the HRR and a semi-final appearance in the 2011 March Meet.  With horsepower coming from Watkins Engine Development, Ted Wadlington serving as crew chief and financial support from Energylink, Rick is on his way to a championship in Pro Slammers as he is the current points leader in 7.60 Slammers.  Good job Rick!


                
Rob Patten
Tracy, Ca.

Rob has been a major player in the gasser classes for the past 11 years.  Patten who started in C-Gas, then moving up to B-Gas and finally to A-Gas has won in almost every class he has entered.  He was the 2006, 2007 and 2009 A-Gas Champion in the Goodguys and West Coast Hot Rod series. Patten is the pilot in his 1963 Corvette, powered by a 581 Steve Schmidt BBC and a Mike's Transmission Powerglide.  With sponsorship help from ERC Fuels Rick Gold and RPM Electric, Patten plans on being a major player in the Pro Slammers ranks.  He plans on running the whole Pro Slammers season and we are glad to have him on board.



                                              
Dewey Ford 
Fairfield ,Ca.

Dewey has joined the Pro Slammers with his Ford Brothers Racing 2009 Corvette Z06.   The car features  a 615 ci  Big Chief Chevy prepared by his brother Donovan Ford and  a Rossler X5 powerglide transferring the 1500hp to the ground.   Consulting the team is Jim Berg  on  the chassis and Fuller Fabrication takes care of all their other needs.  With a best E.T. of at 7.54  at 183 mph w/o the NX nitrous system the team plans on doing two things this season,  making a mark in 6.90 Slammers.  A long way from their  Maryland  street racing roots  and Big block Chevelle the team is ready to rock and roll  Pro Slammers style , Fast Heads-Up Index Racing .   As their search for sponsors  continues the team won't stop until they reach their goals! 

    
Jim Godec              
Carson City, Nv                 

Jim Godec  has joined the Pro Slammers ranks and will be one tough customer in the class.  He has been a major player in A-Gas, West Coast Top Sportsman, B-Gas and Super Comp.  We're glad to have him and the team on board with the fastest growing association on the West Coast.  We also want to wish him good luck at this years March Meet.


                                             
Mark Gordon
Mendocino, Ca

Mark Gordon is  from Mendocino,Ca and has been drag racing for 3 years.  At only 35yrs old he is having fun with friends and family while at the races.  Mark has also been involved in mud drag racing and off-road racing for several years.  For 2011, he will be showcasing his 2000hp, blown 457ci Hemi Ford, with a 1471 Hi Helix supercharger on top.  The 4spd Lenco will get the power to the rear wheels in his 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback as this car has been 6.70 at over 208mph in the 1/4 mile.  Mark's crew members are: Dan Butterfield, Taylor Gordon (son), Todd Ellingson, Mike Drake, Bob Gordon (his father), Pamela Conn and his loving and very supportive wife Michelle Gordon.  Mark has been runner-up and a semi-finalist at Samoa Dragstrip many time in Super Pro and will now make his presence known in Pro Slammers.   When Mark is not racing he enjoys steelhead  and salmon fishing. Langston Slocum
San Francisco,Ca

Langston has been drag racing for over 40yrs.  From BB/Gas & D/Gas at Fremont Dragstrip and Half Moon Bay to a full on Beilman Fabrications double frame rail 1963 Corvette with a blown Oddy 526.  The 8-71 Bug Catcher on top of this beast helps to produce the 1400hp that it takes to be a top competitor in Pro Slammers, as he plans on making his debut in 2012.  His family run crew, son-in-law, Jason Mc Daniel and grandson Joseph Slocom plan on putting the car right at the top of the pack this season.  We wish this team great sucess and we are proud to have them as members of the Pro Slammers Door Car Association.  





                                                                  
Sam Blaylock
San Francisco, Ca

Sam Blaylock has been drag racing for over 30 years competing in the NHRA's super comp, super gas, competition eliminator, Pro Gas and Top Sportsman.  Spending many years in B/AA Sam has developed his driving skills and is a tough competitor on the track.  For 2012 the "Jaws Racing Team"  will debut a new engine combination that the team hopes will put them at the top in Pro Slammers.   With engine builder Dave Haver Racing Engines turning the wrenches they are set to test in March .  All we were able to get out of Blaylock was, " I've got more cubic inches so we'll just have to see".   It seems like this team might just suprise a few people.

John Durden
San Juan Bautista, Ca

John Durden is from beautiful San Juan Bautista, Ca and is one fierce competitor!  For 2012, he and his crew will step up their program and compete in 6.90 Slammers along with a Pro Mod Slammers events.  In order to do this the team is running a 526 ci Hemi headed Pro Mod engine.  Blanco Basura will serve a the teams primary sponsor which will enable them to perform at their very best.  The team will also get support from Durden General Engineering and Full Throttle Gear.

Aaron Wardell 
Rancho Cordova,Ca                                                                                                                                                                               
Aaron was born in Santa Cruz, Ca., at just 35 years old he and his wife Marnette are the proud parents of a beautiful 6 month old daughter, Chevy Lynn.  Aaron is a family man that enjoys  spending time with his wife and daughter.  His hobbies include playing golf along with driving and working on the family's racecar at his dad's shop.  He graduated from Folsom High School and has an Associate Arts degree in computer science from U.T.I.  Aaron is currently an estimator for Shanahan's Auto Body which he has been doing for the last four years.  Aaron first started his driving career in a blown alcohol 1982 Corvette six years ago, which he competed in Top Sportsman and A/Gas. Currently he is driving the new Phoenix Motorsports 1959 Pro Mod style Corvette in the new Pro Slammers class. Aaron has won the prestigious Fremont Reunion in A/Gas and is currently doing double duty driving the J.R, Concrete blown alcohol rear engine dragster where he was runner up in his first race.

Ralph Willis
Salinas,Ca



Mountain Biking has been a popular sport for more than 20 years. It is a great source of cardio exercise that can take the rider to trails all over the world. One of the most popular areas for mountain biking is right here on the Monterey Peninsula. Toro Regional Park and Fort Ord Public Lands has become the perfect spot for many mountain bike enthusiasts. Fort Ord Public Lands is the location for the Sea Otter Classic a world renowned mountain biking competition. This year is the twentieth anniversary April 15-18th 2010!

 Ralph Willis, a longtime resident and owner of Ralph Willis Automotive in Salinas, has been enjoying the sport of mountain biking for 20 years. At 63 years of age he meets a few times a week at Toro Regional Park and Fort Ord. The terrain can be fierce with hills to climb and fast down hills. An average ride will be 10 to 12 miles. The group he rides with range from teenagers and riders that are his age and older. He has been known to be the leader of the pack! Riding his mountain bike has kept Ralph healthy and fit. Ralph is so dedicated to his routine that he has sometimes ridden after dark when getting off work. Ralph’s favorite hobby of drag racing is something he has enjoyed for over 40 years. Ralph says the mountain biking helps keep his mind sharp for racing his drag car, a white 1964 Pontiac Le Mans drag car known by some as the “Ghost”. This car has a whopping 540 Big Block Chevy motor. He reaches speeds of 147 miles per hour in the quarter mile! This spring Ralph will be driving a 1959 Blown Corvette Pro Mod drag car that reaches speeds of up to 209 miles per hour in a quarter mile, so you can see why it is important that Ralph keeps his mind sharp and his body able and fit.

Michael Henry
San Francisco , Ca

A San Francisco native, Michael Henry and his family team enjoy racing together while also spending time in the great outdoors.  Wife Deneitra, daughter Mieshael and son Michael III are side by side working on the car and entertaining the many fans while at the races. Michael brings years of training and experience to the sport as he has now started his own engine program.  

His drag racing career started with bracket racing, then moving up to the West Coast Pro Gas class where he ran a 1967 Camaro.  After watching some of the faster cars he decided to switch and try out Top Sportsman where he competed for 6 years before returning to Pro Gas running A-Gas.  In 2009 he ran 6.90 Slammers and for 2013 he will compete in Pro Mod Slammers. Currently he is the VP for Pro Slammers and works with the tracks to get the most exposure for the association as possible.  

Aside from drag racing Michael enjoys spending time fishing, working with youth groups, driving long country roads and gardening.  He annually takes groups of inner city kids to a racing event through his program, "Racing 4 Life" to expose them to diffrent industries.
